The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls basketball team earned their fourth straight home win of the season after defeating the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks 45-32 on Thursday, January 5th.
The Cardinals got out to an 8-0 lead and never trailed in the game. St Mary led 18-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Redhawks cut the lead to 22-13 by halftime, but the Cardinals were able to push the lead to 15, 35-20 by the end of the third quarter.
St Mary shot 33% (17-52) overall in the game, 28% (7-25) from three-point area, and 4-8 from the free-throw line. The Redhawks shot 31% (11-36) from the field, 24% (4-17) from three-point area, and 46% (6-13) from the free-throw line. The Cardinals also had a 32-24 rebounding advantage in the game.
Ella Griffin finished with 14 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Sydney Klein had seven points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Madala Hanson added six points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Whitney Warwick finished with five points, and Maya Heinitz and Brianna Griffin both had four points each.
