Cardinal Girls Cruise to Third Straight Win

The St Mary’s Cardinal girls evened their record to 4-4 by winning their third straight game on Thursday, January 8th in Estelline.  The Cardinals rolled to a 73-26 victory.

St Mary’s started the game on a 5-0 run and never looked back.  They held a 20-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The defense for St Mary’s then held Estelline/Hendricks to single-digit scoring in the other three quarters.  The Cardinals extended their lead to 41-21 at halftime and then pushed the lead to 60-24 going into the final quarter.

St Mary’s shot 35% (22-63) from the field overall, 30% (7-23) on their three-point attempts, and 79% (22-28) from the free-throw line.  Estelline/Hendricks finished the game shooting 24% (8-34) overall, 20% (4-20) on three-point attempts, and 6-10 from the free-throw line.

Three players finished in double figures.  Stephenie Geraets had 21 points, seven steals, and six rebounds.  Maddyn LeBrun had a 18 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals.  Layla Joe Hanson ended with 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals.  Harper Werdel and Sophia McNaughton each had five points.
