Cardinal Girls Get Big Win over #5 Thunder

The St Mary Cardinal girls earned a big win over the #5 Andes Central/Dakota Christian (ACDC) Thunder at the Midwest Miracles Classic on Saturday, January 4th.  A strong second half by St Mary helped them to a 61-49 win.

The opening quarter was also a big one for St Mary.  The Cardinals put 25 points on the board and led 25-13 at quarter’s end.  The script then flipped in the second quarter.  The Thunder held St Mary to just four points, and ACDC took the lead, 30-29, going into halftime.  The halftime break is what the Cardinals needed.  St Mary rebounded and outscored the Thunder 20-12 in the third quarter to take a 49-42 lead into the fourth quarter. The Cardinals then held the Thunder to just seven points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Four players finished in double figures.  Maddyn LeBrun had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Brianna Griffin had a team-high 13 points with four assists and three rebounds.  Jenna Miller had 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals.  Madala Hanson had 11 points and three assists.  Addison Libis added eight points and three steals.  Jodie Klein and Stephenie Geraets both had three points each.
