Fourth Quarter Rally Secures Win for St Mary Boys

For two and a half quarters, the Centerville Tornadoes hung with the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals.  A strong rally in the fourth quarter by the Cardinals secured a 72-52 win at home on Tuesday, February 13th.

The Cardinals finished the first quarter with a five-point lead, 15-10.  The two teams went shot for shot in the second quarter, and St Mary led 29-25 at halftime.  St Mary started to put some separation between them and Centerville late in the third quarter.  The Cardinals led 51-42 going into the fourth quarter.  They then outscored the Tornadoes 21-10 in the final quarter.

St Mary shot 53% (29-55) from the field overall, 45% (9-20) from three-point area, and a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line.  Centerville shot 41% (18-44) overall, 50% (5-10) on three-point shots, and 61% (11-18) from the free-throw line.

Maverick LeBrun had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists.  Nic Gaspar finished with 17 points and eight rebound.  Trevon Beckman also had 17 points with four rebounds and three assists.  Trimmier Hanson had nine points, two rebounds, and three assists.  Owen Vargas, Lincoln LeBrun, and Camden Gilbert all had three points each.
