The St Mary’s Cardinals started their 2026 season in dominate fashion on Friday, August 21st. The Cardinals earned a 58-6 road win over the Deubrook Dolphins, ending the game with 4:56 to play in the third quarter.
Brady Jewett connected with Logan Bauer on a 24-yard touchdown pass with 8:39 to play in the opening quarter. Jewett had a 39-yard touchdown pass to Jake Heinitz with 4:38 in the opening quarter. Jewett added a 12-yard touchdown run with 1:19 remaining. The Cardinals converted all three two-point conversion for a 22-0 lead after the first quarter.
Thomas LaVoy found the end zone on a 16-yard run with 9:40 to play in the second quarter. Another two-point conversion extended the lead to 32-0. Jewett and Heinitz connected again on a 35-yard touchdown pass with 9:23 remaining for a 38-0 score. Jacob Geraets had a one-yard touchdown run with 6:43 to go in the quarter to extend the lead to 44-0. Deubrook scored on a one-yard touchdown pass with 3:33 remaining. St Mary’s added one more score before halftime. Heinitz took the ensuing kickoff 80 yard for a touchdown with 3:15 on the clock. The Cardinals led 52-6 at halftime.
The game ended with 4:56 to play in the third quarter after a 20-yard touchdown run by Colter Griffin.
St Mary’s finished with 337 yards of total offense, 129 passing yards and 208 rushing yards. The Dolphins had 36 total yards of offense, 28 passing yards and eight rushing yards. Jewett finished 5-7 passing for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Heinitz had three catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns. Bauer had two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. LaVoy led the rushing attack with six carries for 53 yards a touchdown. Jewett had three rushes for 33 yards and a touchdown.
Pano Skliris and Theo Miller each had 3.5 tackles. Josh Liebl added 2.5 tackles. Jacob Geraets had two tackles and a sack. Kade Lutt and Liam Barr both had two tackles each. Heinitz finished with a tackle and a fumble recovery,
