St Mary’s Girls Lead Start to Finish Against Garretson

The St Mary’s Cardinal girls led start to finish in a 54-27 victory over the Garretson Blue Dragons at home on Tuesday, January 6th.

The Cardinals built a 15-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and kept expanding on that lead throughout the game.  THey would outscore Garretson 12-5 in the second quarter for a 27-13 lead at halftime.  The defense for St Mary’s would hold the Blue Dragons to single-digit scoring in each of the final two quarters.  St Mary’s led 41-21 heading into the final quarter of play.

The Cardinals shot 34% (20-59) from the field overall, 22% (4-18) on three-point shots, and 45% (10-22) from the free-throw line.  Garretson finished the game shooting 23% (7-31) overall, 29% (4-14) on three-point attempts, and 64% (9-14) from the free-throw line.  The Cardinal defense had 20 steals in the game.

Maddyn LeBrun had 24 points, 16 rebounds, and five steals.  Stephenie Geraets finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and four steals.  Layal Joe Hanson added nine points and three steals.
