Hamlin Rolls Past St Mary Boys at Entringer Classic

The St Mary Cardinal boys basketball team matched up against the Hamlin Chargers at the Entringer Classic in Brookings on Wednesday, December 31st.  The Chargers pulled away midway through the second quarter and rolled to a 65-31 victory.

The Cardinals took an early 8-4 lead with 4:30 left in the first quarter.  Hamlin, however, would end the first quarter leading 16-13.  St Mary’s scored the first four points of the second quarter and went back in front 17-16.  The game was tied 21-21 with 5:00 to play in the second quarter.  That’s when the Chargers went on a roll.  They ended the half on a 16-3 run for a 37-24 halftime lead.  The Chargers then held St Mary’s to just seven points in the second half.

St Mary’s shot 47% (14-30) from the field overall, 1-9 from three-point area, and 2-7 from the free-throw line.  Hamlin finished the game shooting 52% (24-46) overall, 47% (8-17) on three-point attempts, and a perfect 9-9 from the free-throw line.

Isaac Griffin had eight points and three assists.  Peyton Lamb finished with seven points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Trimmier Hanson also finished with seven points, two assists, and a steal.  Joseph Trumbauer added four points and two rebounds.
