“St Mary’s always competes in a very competitive Dakota Valley Conference and Region 3B year in and year out. The Cardinals are looking to repeat the success from a year ago,” said head coach Colby Fitzgerald.
St Mary finished 3rd at the State B Tournament with an overall record of 24-2. Two players from a year ago were named Class B 1st Team All-State and Mr. Basketball finalists. The Cardinals also had four All-DVC performers and the DVC Player of the Year.
St Mary returns 12 letter winners and an All-DVC performer from a year ago. Trimmier Hanson (senior) is a four-year returning starter who will have the most game-time experience for the Cardinals this year. He’ll be joined by seniors Lincoln LeBrun and Peyton Lamb as well as junior Jaxon Baumberger to help lead the team.
“We pride our program of encouraging multi-sport athletes with the size and numbers at St Mary’s. We have great dedication and always tell our players that opportunities are only earned by what effort you put in. Nothing is ever given to you! We are excited to watch the growth of our team from when we start practice to when we start Region play in March. We graduated a lot of our production from a year ago but are always excited to have a new group come in and compete for roles and playing time,” added Fitzgerald.
The Cardinals start the season in Howard on Friday, December 12th.
