St Mary Girls Get Win in Flandreau at Entringer Classic

The St Mary Cardinal girls got off to a fast start and took a 49-35 win over the Flandreau Fliers at the girls Entringer Classic in Colman on Saturday, December 21st.

St Mary put 20 points on the board and built a 20-5 lead by the end of the first quarter.  Flandreau started to climb back into the game in the second quarter.  The Fliers outscored the Cardinals 17-10 to cut the lead to 30-22 by halftime.  St Mary, however, would make sure that was the only rally the Fliers would get.  The Cardinals extended their lead throughout the third quarter to 42-27 by the end of it.  St Mary would maintain their double-digit lead throughout the fourth quarter.

The Cardinals shot 31% (16-51) overall, 33% (9-27) from three-point area, and 8-10 from the free-throw line.  Flandreau shot 44% (12-27) overall, 18% (2-11) on three-point attempts, and 60% (9-15) from the free-throw line.  The Cardinal defense also forced 17 Flier turnovers in the game.

Jenna Miller, named the game’s MVP, had 24 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Madala Hanson added 18 points and four steals.  Maddyn LeBrun had two points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Addison Libis had three points and two rebounds.  Stephenie Geraets ended with two points and three rebounds.
