The St Mary Cardinal boys basketball team cruised to their second straight home win to start the season on Tuesday, December 17th. The Cardinals defeated the Mitchell Christian Golden Eagles 77-29.
St Mary opened the game on an 11-0 run and cruised from there. They held a 24-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead grew to 54-22 by halftime. The Cardinal defense held the Golden Eagles to just seven points in the second half in in the win.
St Mary shot 54% (32-59) overall in the game, 29% (7-24) from three-point area, and 6-12 from the free-throw line. Mitchell Christian was held to 21% (9-43) shooting overall, 33% (6-18) from three-point area, and 5-9 from the free-throw line.
Maverick LeBrun finished with 22 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Trevon Beckman had 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Trimmier Hanson added 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Jake Kopsas also had 10 points and eight rebounds.
