The St Mary Cardinal volleyball team saw their 2024 season end in the Region 3B tournament in Colman on Tuesday, November 5th. The Bridgewater-Emery Huskies won in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-22, and 25-22.
St Mary started the first set with an early 3-2 lead. The Huskies then went on a 4-0 run for a 6-3 lead. Bridgewater-Emery maintained their lead with scores of 13-8 and 15-11. The Huskies would then go on a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 20-11 before finishing the first set with a 25-15 win.
Bridgewater-Emery took a 5-2 lead to start the second set. They led 8-4, but the Cardinals would tie the score 9-9. The run continued for St Mary as they then took an 11-9 lead. The Huskies responded with a 5-0 to go back in front 14-11. The Cardinals tied the score 16-16 and then went ahead 19-18. The teams went back and forth to ties of 21-21 and 22-22. The Huskies scored the final three points, however, for a 25-22 win.
St Mary would start the third set with a 4-2 run. Bridgewater-Emery tied the score 5-5, but St Mary went back in front by a score of 10-6. The Cardinals kept the lead with scores of 13-11 and 15-13. The Huskies would tie the score 16-16. The two teams remained locked in a battle to ties of 18-18, 21-21, and 22-22. The Huskies would again score the final three points to win the set, and match, 25-22.
The St Mary Cardinals finished with an overall record of 17-10.
