The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal volleyball team picked up their 13th win of the season after a straight-set road win against the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks on Thursday, October 3rd. The Cardinals won by scores of 25-14, 25-12, and 25-20.
St Mary breezed through the first two sets. They got out to a 7-2 lead in the first set and then scored the next four points for an 11-2 advantage. They extended the lead to 24-13 before winning 25-14. After a tie at 3-3 and 5-5, the Cardinals went on a 6-1 run for an 11-6 lead. St Mary pushed that lead to 20-9 before taking the second set 25-12.
The Cardinals did have a one-point lead of scores 4-3 and 6-5 to start the third set. The Sharks tied the score 6-6 before taking the lead 8-7. St Mary tied the set 12-12 and then they went on a 5-0 run for a 17-12 lead. The Cardinals would not lose that lead and took the match with a 25-20 win.
