The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal volleyball team won three of four matches at the Wessington Springs Invite on Saturday, September 28th. The Cardinals had matches against Lower Brule, Jones County, Tripp-Delmont/Armour, and Deubrook.
In the first match, St Mary had a straight set win over the Lower Brule. They cruised to wins of 25-7 and 25-10. The Cardinals then faced Jones County Coyotes. The Coyotes won the first set 25-19, but St Mary fought back to win the next two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-21.
The Cardinals won their third match after a 2-1 win over the Tripp-Delmont/Armour Nighthawks. The Nighthawks would win the first set 26-24. St Mary took the next two sets by the same score of 25-18. The final match of the day came against the Deubrook Area Dolphins. The Dolphins avenged an earlier loss to the Cardinals by winning in straight sets, 25-23 and 25-20.
