The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls and boys golf teams return a total of three state qualifiers from a year ago. Trevon Beckman (tied for 33rd), Owen Vargas (tied for 91st), and Carley Roiger (tied for 79th) will help lead the teams after competing at state a year ago.
Walker Warwick, Levi Gaul, and Lukas Gaul return to the boys team. Trimmier Hanson will be joining the team as well. Allie Hansen returns for the girls after just missing the state qualifying cut line a year ago. Rebecca Heinemann, Rachel Heinemann, and Brianna Weiland all gained valuable varsity experience last year and return this season.
“I am expecting that both the boys and girls teams will be able to compete with some of the top teams in our area. Our golf program at St Mary has made steady progress over my first two years as coach, and I look forward to that continuing. We are also looking at qualifying more kids for the state golf meet this season and bringing home a medal or two from the state meet,” said head coach Blaine Bacon.
The first meet of the season is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 9th in Garretson.
