The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal track team returns a total of 12 state qualifiers from a year ago for the 2024 season. Those athletes are Jaycee Tebay, Rylee Chamley, Maddyn LeBrun, Addison Libis, Madala Hanson, Brianna Griffin, Emy Herber, Liz Vogel, Jaxon Baumberger, Logan Bauer, Lincoln LeBrun, and Lucas Flemmer. Just two of them are seniors – Tebay and Flemmer.
“I believe that both the boys and the girls will improve throughout the year and be able to compete very well at the state track meet in May. We have a great group of younger kids who like to compete and work hard both in the boys and girls. We have a good group of upperclassmen who know how to work and and lead. I am excited to get the season going and watch these athletes compete,” said head coach Ross Flemmer.
The 2023 team also had some records fall by athletes returning this season. Tebay broke the javelin record. Flemmer set school records in the 100m, 200m, and 400m dash last season. The mixed 4x400m relay team that set a meet record at Howard Wood returns Flemmer and Hanson.
