The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal track team had a strong start to their 2024 season. The Cardinals took part in the Mt Marty Class B Indoor track invite on Thursday, March 21st. St Mary had 12 top-8 finishes on the day.
Elizabeth Vogel took second in the 3200m run. Brianna Griffin placed fourth in the 400m dash and had a sixth place finish in the 200m dash. Lucy Vargas was sixth in the 3200m run. Emersyn Herber was eighth in the 200m dash and the 400m dash. Cami Wolles placed 12th in the 1600m run. Jenna Miller was 13th in the 800m run. Jaycee Tebay finished 14th in the shot put. The 4x800m relay of Miller, Wolles, Vargas, and Vogel placed seventh. The sprint medley relay team of Vargas, Londyn LaFortune, Wolles, and Vogel took eighth place.
Lucas Flemmer won the 60m dash, the 200m dash, and 400m dash. Camden Tebay was eighth in the 3200m run. Matt Heinemann placed 10th in the 3200m run. Jaxon Baumberger finished 15th in the high jump. The sprint medley relay team of Heinemann, Jacob Flemmer, Kade Lutt, and Tebay had a ninth-place finish.
Head coach Ross Flemmer said, “All the athletes did very well at the meet. It was great to get to see them compete. It was a great start to the season”
