The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls continued their winning streak with a 54-38 win over the Deubrook Area Dolphins at home on Tuesday, January 23rd.
After an 8-8 tie late in the first quarter, the Cardinals went on a 6-2 run for a 14-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Dolphins scored the first two points of the second quarter to cut the lead to 14-12, but that would be as close as they would get the rest of the game. St Mary kept slowly adding to their lead the remainder of the game. The Cardinals led 27-21 at halftime. They extended their lead to 45-34 by the end of the third quarter and held Deubrook to just four points in the final quarter.
St Mary shot 42% (20-48) overall in the game, 40% (8-20) on three-point shots, and 55% (6-11) from the free-throw line. Deubrook finished the game shooting 23% (11-48) overall, 15% (3-20) from three-point area, and 87% (13-15) from the free-throw line.
Addison Libis had 20 points, two assists, and two steals. Jenna Miller finished with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Brianna Griffin added six points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Maddyn LeBrun had three points and five rebounds. Stephenie Geraets and Sierra Klein both had three points each as well.
