The White River Tigers gave the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals their second straight loss on Saturday, January 20th at the Hanson Classic in Mitchell. The Tigers used a second quarter rally for a 63-49 victory.
The Cardinals led by four points early in the game, but White River had the 19-17 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers outscored the Cardinals 17-6 in the second quarter, which proved to be the big difference in the game. White River led 36-23 at halftime. They would extend their lead to 51-34 going into the fourth quarter.
St Mary shot 46% (21-46) overall in the game, but just 16% (3-19) on three-point shots, and 67% (4-6) from the free-throw line. White River shot 53% (25-47) overall, 50% (5-10) from three-point area, and 67% (8-14) from the free-throw line.
Maverick LeBrun had 16 points and seven rebounds. Trevon Beckman added 14 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Nic Gaspar ended with 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Trimmier Hanson had five points, two rebounds, and two assists.
