In a battle of top 5 teams in Class B boys basketball, the #1 Castlewood Warriors defeated the #5 Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals 68-46 on Tuesday, January 16th.
An early 13-0 run by the Warriors in the first quarter set the tone for the remainder of the game. Castlewood built a 20-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. The lead extended to 36-18 by halftime and then 59-31 by the end of the third quarter.
St Mary shot 40% (19-48) overall in the game, 36% (5-14) on three-point attempts, and 33% (3-9) from the free-throw line. Castlewood shot 52% (27-52) overall, 36% (8-22) from three-point area, and 6-7 from the free-throw line.
Trevon Beckman had 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Maverick LeBrun also had 15 points with six rebounds. Trimmier Hanson had eight points. Nic Gaspar added six points and two rebounds.
