The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal boys basketball team got another win on Thursday, January 4th. St Mary overcame a slow first quarter for a 65-51 win over the Estelline/Hendricks Redhawks.
The Cardinals scored the first two points of the game, but the Redhawks held a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. St Mary took the lead 18-17 in the second quarter and then never looked back. The Cardinals led 30-24 at halftime. They extended their lead to 49-36 by the end of the third quarter and outscored the Redhawks 16-15 in the final quarter.
The Cardinals shot 41% (21-51) overall in the game, 32% (8-25) from three-point area, and 75% (15-20) from the free-throw line. Estelline/Hendricks shot 39% (20-51) overall, 28% (7-25) from three-point area, but just 4-7 from the free-throw line.
Maverick LeBrun had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Trimmier Hanson added 13 points, foure rebounds, and five assists. Trevon Beckman had 13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Lucas Flemmer had seven points and four rebounds. Nic Gaspar ended with six points, four rebounds, and two assists. Camden Gilbert also had six points with two steals.
