The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls basketball team drew a tough match-up at this year’s Entringer Classic on Saturday, December 16th in Colman. The Cardinals had to face an undefeated, Class A Sioux Valley Cossacks team. The Cossacks defeated St Mary 66-43.
Sioux Valley built a 13-point lead by the end of the first quarter, 15-2. The Cardinal offense found some momentum in the second quarter, scoring 14 points, but Sioux Valley scored 18 to extend their lead to 33-16 at halftime. The Cossacks outscored St Mary 22-18 in the third quarter for a 55-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.
St Mary finished the game shooting 26% (16-62) from the field overall, 14% (3-21) from three-point area, and 53% (8-15) from the free-throw line. Sioux Valley shot 39% (24-61) overall, 33% (15-45) from three-point area, and 3-4 from the free-throw line.
Brianna Griffin finished with 10 points and four rebounds. Jenna Miller had nine points and eight rebounds. Maddyn LeBrun added eight points and five rebounds. Addison Libis had six points. Megan Geraets had four points and four rebounds.
