St Mary Girls Win on Senior Night

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals (15-3) bounced back the night after a loss to Arlington and defeated the Baltic Bulldogs 57-24 on Tuesday, February 7th.  This was the final home game of the regular season for the Cardinals, and they celebrated their four seniors prior to the game:  Maya Heinitz, Whitney Warwick, Ella Griffin, and Sydney Klein.

The Cardinals took the first half of the game to get rolling.  St Mary led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter.  The Bulldogs pulled within a point, 14-13, at about the halfway point of the second quarter, but the Cardinals pushed the lead to 26-16 by halftime.  St Mary got rolling in the third quarter.  The defense did not allow a made field goal in the third quarter, only two free made free throws, and the offense scored 21 points.  The Cardinals led 47-18 at the end of the quarter.

St Mary shot 34% (19-56) overall in the game, 35% (9-26) from three-point area, and 56% (10-18) from the free-throw line.  The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 23% (9-39) overall, 12% (2-17) on three-point shots, and 33% (4-12) from the free-throw line.

Ella Griffin had 25 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Brianna Griffin had eight points, six rebounds, and two steals.  Addison Libis also had eight points with three rebounds.  Whitney Warwick had three points and four rebounds.  Sierra Klein had three points, three rebounds, and three assists.  Sydney Klein ended with two points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
