Griffin Hits 1,000 Points, Cardinals Beat Hills-Beaver Creek

With 4:06 to go in the game, Ella Griffin knocked down a three-point shot from the top of the key to put her over 1,000 points for her career.  Those were three of her 28 total points in the game as the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals defeated the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots 69-46 on Tuesday, January 31st.

The Cardinals took control of the game early.  After a 2-2 tie, St Mary went on an 11-2 run and then ended the first quarter leading 20-12.  They extended the lead to 41-27 by halftime and kept rolling in the third quarter.  The Cardinals led 60-36 after three quarters of play.

St Mary shoot 43% (26-60) from the field overall, 41% (13-32) from three-point area, and 4-8 from the free-throw line.  The Patriots finished the game shooting 38% (17-45) overall, just 2-12 on three-point attempts, and 59% (10-17) from the free-throw line.

Along with her 28 points, E. Griffin also had five rebounds, seven steals, and three assists.  Madala Hanson had 20 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists.  Whitney Warwick had six points and three steals.  Addison Libis also had six points and two rebounds.  Brianna Griffin added five points, three rebounds, two steals, and five assists.  Sydney Klein had two points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists.  Maya Heinitz ended with two points and three assists.
