The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals (10-2) ran their winning streak to five after a 69-32 win at the Garretson Blue Dragons on Monday, January 30th.
St Mary had a fast start and led 13-4 with 5:15 to go in the opening quarter. The Blue Dragons went on an 11-2 run and tied the game 15-15 with 2:20 to play in the first. The Cardinals got the final four points of the first quarter and led 19-15 at the break. Momentum just started to pick up for St Mary. They continued their run and extended the lead to 30-15 with 3:45 left in the half. St Mary was leading 39-19 at halftime. They also led 60-26 after the third quarter.
The Cardinals shot 54% (29-54) from the field, 38% (8-21) on three-point attempts, and 3-7 from the free-throw line. Garretson finished the game shooting 31% (12-39) overall, 3-11 on three-point shots, and 50% (5-10) from the free-throw line.
Nic Gaspar finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Trevon Beckman had 13 points, five rebounds, two steals, and two assists. Trimmier Hanson added 11 points. CJ Smith had nine points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Maverick LeBrun tallied seven points, two rebounds, two steals, and four assists.
