The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals had no trouble with the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Raiders on Thursday, January 12th. The Cardinals led by as many as 16 in the opening quarter and won the game 79-42. The win was the fourth straight for St Mary.
The Cardinals led 23-7 with 1:30 to go in the first quarter and ended the quarter leading 25-10. The lead grew to 43-25 at halftime and then 67-34 by the end of the of the third quarter.
St Mary shot 48% (31-65) from the field overall, 36% (9-25) from three-point area, and 80% (8-10) from the free-throw line. The Raiders finished 38% (16-42) shooting, 25% (3-12) from three-point area, and 64% (7-11) from the free-throw line. The Cardinals forced 29 Raider turnovers in the game while only committing nine themselves.
Nic Gaspar had 21 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and three blocked shots. Maverick LeBrun ended with 18 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Trevon Beckman was also in double figures with 16 points along with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Owen Vargas had eight points. Trimmier Hanson ended with seven points and seven assists.
