The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals breezed through three sets in a win over the Centerville Tornadoes at home on Tuesday, October 11th.
The Cardinals quickly built a 10-4 lead in the opening set. The continued to build on that lead and won the first set 25-8. The second set started a bit closer as the Tornadoes were able to stay within two points, 11-9, through the early stages. The Cardinals, however, finished the set on a 14-3 run for a 25-12 victory. St Mary kept cruising in the third set and went ahead 15-3. Centerville did make a late run. After the Cardinals had taken a 20-8, the Tornadoes cut the lead to four, 21-17. St Mary ended the rally and finished the set on a 4-1 run for a 25-18 win.
Maya Heinitz ended the night with 11 kills, 10 digs, and six ace serves. Ella Griffin had 12 kills and three digs. Brianna Griffin finished with six kills, five ace serves, and two digs. Megan Geraets and Jayce Tebay both had five kills each. Brianna LIndeman finished with 31 set assists and three aces. Josie Baumberger had 10 digs. Madala Hanson finished with nine digs, and Whitney Warwick had eight digs and two ace serves.
