The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal volleyball team played two matches on back-to-back nights, but both of them at home. St Mary hosted the Sioux Falls Lutheran Eagles on Monday, September 12th and then hosted Flandreau Indian School on Tuesday, September 13th.

The Cardinals had to make comebacks throughout most of the match, but the Eagles hung on long enough to take a 3-1 match win. Sioux Falls Lutheran won the first match 25-16. The Eagles held a big lead in the second set, but the Cardinals made the comeback. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the Eagles broke a 24-24 tie with two straight points for the 26-24 win.
The Cardinals were able to put the first two sets behind them and get a win in the third set 25-19 to force a fourth set. The Eagles built a 17-13 lead in the fourth set. St Mary was able to pull within a point 24-23, but Sioux Falls Lutheran got the point for the 25-23 win.
Maya Heinitz had 15 kills, 25 digs and two ace serves. Brianna Griffin finished with eight kills, seven digs, and two ace serves. Emy Herber had seven kills. Megan Geraets added six kills, three blocks, three digs, and a set assist. Brianna Lindeman had 38 set assists, six digs, four ace serves, and two blocks. Jaycee Tebay had five kills, three blocks, and two ace serves. Jadala Hanson had 25 digs, and Whitney Warwick finished with 16 digs.

The Cardinals bounced back the next night with a straight-set win over Flandreau Indian School. St Mary cruised in all three sets winning by scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-7.
Heinitz had a team-high 14 kills along with three digs and two ace serves. Ella Griffin had five kills, three digs, and eight ace serves. B. Griffin also had five kills with seven ace serves. Tebay and Geraets both had four kills each. Lindeman. finished with 22 set assists, nine digs, and two ace serves. Hanson had three digs and two ace serves. Baumberger also had three digs.
St Mary will host Deubrook on Thursday, September 15th.
