The Castlewood Warriors scored on five big plays in the second half on their way to a 60-6 win over the Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals on Friday, September 9th.
The Warriors scored the first four touchdowns in the first half. After a St Mary fumble on the opening drive of the game, Castlewood scored on a 35-yard touchdown pass with 11:38 to play in the first quarter. They scored again with 8:45 in the first quarter on a 30-yard run for a 12-0 lead.
The next two scores came in the second quarter. Castlewood scored on a one-yard run with 10:56 in the half. The Warriors extended the lead to 24-0 with 5:57 on an eight-yard run. St Mary got on the board with 1:59 to play in the second quarter. CJ Smit had a nine-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Lindeman to cut the lead to 24-6 by halftime.
Castlewood got rolling in the third quarter with big plays. The Warriors scored on 55-yard, 65-yard, and 39-yard plays in the third quarter to go ahead 46-6. The two touchdowns in the fourth quarter were on 39-yard and 43-yard plays. The final touchdown ended the game with 4:45 left on the clock.
The Cardinals only had 87 yards of total offense, 45 passing yards and 42 rushing yards. The Warriors finished with 437 yards of offense, 229 rushing yards and 208. passing yards.
Smith was 4-14 passing for 34 yards and a touchdown. Smith also led the team with 10 carries for 38 yards. Lindeman had a catch for nine yards and a touchdown. Maverick LeBrun also had a catch for nine yards. Lindeman had seven tackles and a sack. Nic Gaspar also had seven tackles and a fumble recovery. Charlie Becker finished with two tackles and a forced fumble, and Smith had four tackles and an interception.
St Mary (1-3) will travel to Arlington on Friday, September 16th.
