Charlene was born on August 28, 1960 in Dell Rapids, SD, the daughter of Clarence and De Elda (Bidne) Shjegstad. She grew up on the family farm until moving with her family into Dell Rapids in 1976. She graduated from DRHS in 1978. She attended USD for one year before graduating from Nettelton College. She married Mitch Adams on July 21, 1984 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Char was very talented with a sewing machine. She combined her talent with her generosity, making countless quilts which she donated to benefit local organizations. Her blankets were special gifts which keep many Dell Rapids children warm at night. She adored her cats, loved reading, golfing, and hosting get-togethers for neighbors and friends. Most of all, she loved her family and cherished her time with them.   Anyone who knew Char would agree she put others before herself. She was defined by her kindness and willingness to support those in need. She always had the right words for any situation and her simple presence was a calming virtue. Charlene was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids and was an avid booster of athletics. She was a well-known face in the crowd supporting DRHS and SMHS. Char will be remembered as an amazingly compassionate friend, loving wife and mother. She will undoubtedly be missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
