Watchdogs Suffer Loss to Undefeated Cossacks

The Beresford Watchdogs hosted the Sioux Valley Cossacks in football action on Friday, October 11th.  Sioux Valley broke a 7-7 tie and scored 35 straight points in a 42-7 win.

The Cossacks scored the first touchdown with 7:32 to play in the opening quarter on a 12-yard run.  The made extra point gave them a 7-0 lead.  Beresford tied the game a little over two minutes later.  Ashton Oberle connected with Payden Hoffman for a 12-yard touchdown pass.  #13 made the extra point, and with 5:12 left in the quarter, the score was tied 7-7.

Sioux Valley broke the tie with 1:35 left in the quarter on a 34-yard run to go ahead 14-7.  The Cossacks added two more scores in the second quarter on runs of 13 and 20 yards.  Sioux Valley led 28-7 at halftime.  They had two more rushing touchdowns in the third quarter on carries of one yard and 15 yards for the 42-7 final score.

Beresford finished with 219 yards, 207 passing yards and 12 rushing yards.  Sioux Valley had 428 yards of offense, 411 rushing yards and 17 passing yards.  Jace Adams had four carries for 11 yards.  Oberle was 7-11 passing for 126 yards.  John Savey was 10-17 passing for 81 yards.  Malachi James had three catches for 63 yards.  Hoffman finished with seven catches for 56 yards, and Cooper Nelson added five catches for 47 yards
