Huskies Get Homecoming Win over Watchdogs

The Beresford Watchdogs traveled to Elk Point looking to spoil the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies homecoming on Friday, September 27th, but the Huskies shut out the Watchdogs 39-0.

Beresford had a good drive going in the opening quarter and got inside the Huskies 20 yard line, but a fumble recovered by Elk Point-Jefferson ended the drive.  The defenses played strong in the first quarter, and the score was tied 0-0 at quarter break.  The Huskies got two scores in the second quarter.  Their first score came with 9:55 to play on a 65-yard run.  The second touchdown was a 38-yard run with 2:31 to go.  One made extra point made the score 13-0 at halftime.

The Huskies used a big second half to put the game out of reach.  The score remained 13-0 until late into the third quarter.  Elk Point-Jefferson got a 29-yard touchdown pass with 3:17 to go.  The extra point made the score 20-0.  The Huskies added one more score, a 59-yard touchdown pass, before the end of the quarter to make the score 27-0.  They would get two more scores in the fourth quarter on runs of 31 yards and 10 yards.

Jax Fickbohm led the rushing attack with seven carries for 16 yards.  Ashton Oberle was 12-25 passing for 112 yards.  Malachi James had four catches for 39 yards.
