Watchdog Softball Wins Two in Flandreau

The Beresford Watchdog softball team played Sioux Valley and Deuel in Flandreau on Saturday, April 27th, winning both of the games.

Beresford 14, Sioux Valley 9

The Watchdogs built a 14-2 lead through four innings of play and held for the win over the Cossacks.  Sioux Valley had a five-run top of the fifth and then added two more runs in the sixth to make things interesting.  Beresford, however, was able to hold for the win.

Halle Livingston had four hits, including a double, and three RBIs.  Kennedy Merrigan had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Lily Seivert and Harley Koth both had a single and two RBIs.  Ivy Keiser had a single and RBI.  Keely Merrigan added a double.  Rylie Laurvick, Capri Mullinix, and Tavyn Valder all had one hit each.  Laurvick pitched six innings and allowed nine runs, eight earned, on 11 hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.  Brynlee Mohning pitched one inning and struck out one batter.

Beresford 10, Deuel 0

Mohning pitched a six-inning no hitter in a win over the Deuel Cardinals.  She allowed only three walks and had 15 strikeouts in the game.  The offense was able to score in every inning but one ending the game in the bottom of the sixth on the 10-run rule.

Keely Merrigan had three hits and an RBI.  Keiser had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Kaylee Ivarson added a double and three RBIs.  Livingston had a hit and an RBI.  Reese Olson finished with a double, and Seivert added an RBI.
