Black Sox 16U Loses Lead, Falls to Centerville

The Beresford/Alcester-Hudson 16U Black Sox had a lead after two innings, but Centerville rallied for a 17-10 win on Monday, June 26th.

Centerville scored three runs in the top of the first, but the Black Sox took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the inning.  Centerville had another three-run inning in the top of the second.  The Black Sox also had a three-run second inning.  After two innings of play, the Black Sox led 7-6.

Centerville then took the lead for good in the top of the third with five runs.  Neither team scored in the fourth inning.  Centerville added two more runs in the top of the fifth to lead 13-7.  The Black Sox got four runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Centerville put the game away with four more runs in the top of the sixth.

Ethan Bovill had four hits, including two doubles, with an RBI.  Jax Fickbohm had two hits, one a triple, and two RBIs.  Jace Adams had two hits, one of them a double, and an RBI.  Espyn Klungseth also had two hits.  Evan Haak finished with a single, and Tommy Walth had an RBI.  Klungseth pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed nine runs, eight earned, on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Walth pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed eight runs, four earned, on five hits and four walks with seven strikeouts.
