Dakota Valley used two four-run innings to defeat the Beresford/Alcester-Hudson 16U Black Sox 13-6 on Tuesday, June 20th.
After a scoreless first inning, Dakota Valley took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second. The Black Sox, however, grabbed a brief lead after three runs in the top of the third. Ashton Oberle had a run-scoring single, and Tommy Walth added a run-scoring double. Dakota Valley regained the lead, 5-3, with three runs in the bottom of the third.
The score remained 5-3 until the bottom of the fifth. Dakota Valley had their first four-run inning in the bottom of the fifth. After Beresford/Alcester-Hudson got one run in the top of sixth, Dakota Valley had their second four-run inning in the bottom of the sixth for a 13-4 lead. The Black Sox added two more runs in the top of the seventh.
Oberle had three hits and an RBI. Walth had two doubles and an RBI. Jacob Cole had two hits, one a double. Ethan Bovil and Kasen Voss each had a single and an RBI. Jax Fickbohm and Evan Haak both had a single. Espyn Klungseth pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed nine earned runs on 12 hits and a walk. Bovill pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
