Vermillion Takes Down Black Sox

Vermillion took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on their way to a 16-6 win over the Beresford/Alcester-Hudson Black Sox on Monday, April 24th.

The Black Sox started the game with a three-run top of the first inning.  Cooper Nelson had an RBI ground out, and Ashton Oberle had a two-run single for the early 3-0 lead.  The lead was short lived as Vermillion scored seven times in the bottom of the first.  They added another run in the bottom of the second for an 8-3 lead.

The Black Sox tried to get back into the game.  Beresford/Alcester-Hudson cut into the lead in the top of the third.  Both Ethan Bovill and Nelson both stole home to cut the lead to 8-5.  Vermillion, however, scored six times in the bottom of the third to push the lead to 14-5.  The Black Sox got one more run in the top of the fourth, and Vermillion scored two more in the bottom of the fourth.

Oberle had a single and two RBIs.  Bovill had a single and an RBI.  Landen Kroger added two singles, and Robert Watkins had a hit.  Nelson added one RBI.  Jax Fickbohm allowed six runs, five earned, on three hits and three walks.  Conner Latendresse allowed seven runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks with a strikeout.  Kroger allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and three walks and a strikeout.
