Baltic Girls Outlast Madison on Senior Night

The Baltic Bulldog girls basketball team was able to hold off a rally in the fourth quarter by the Madison Bulldogs to earn a 50-42 win on senior night Monday, January 26th.  Baltic built a 20-point lead in the second half which was enough to earn the win.

Caitlyn Pickett had memorable senior-night game finishing with a near 20-20 game.  Pickett finished with 20 points and 19 rebounds.  Harper Kortemeyer had 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.  Kaiya Lenderts had nine points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Sadey Holt ended with four points and five rebounds.

Baltic had the lead from start to finish in the game.  They held a 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.  The offense got rolling in the middle quarters.  Baltic extended the lead to 25-14 at halftime.  They would outscore Madison 16-7 in the third quarter and lead 41-21 going into the fourth quarter.  Baltic looked like they would be able to cruise to victory.  Madison, however, made a strong comeback.  They cut the lead down to 47-41 with 1:20 to play in the game.  They would run out of time, and Baltic made enough free throws in the final minute to secure the win.

Baltic shot 39.5% (17-43) overall in the game, 18.8% (3-16) from three-point area, and 41.9% (13-31) from the free-throw line.  Madison finished the game shooting 19.7% (12-61) overall, 16.1% (5-31) on three-point shots, and 56.5% (13-23) from the free-throw line.
