The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team started the 2025 season with a four-set road win at Colman-Egan on Thursday, August 28th. The Bulldogs won by set scores of 25-18, 25-22, 20-25, and 25-23.
Set 1
After an early 2-2 tie to start the first set, Colman-Egan went on a 5-1 run for a 7-3 lead. Baltic responded with a 5-1 run of their own to tie the score 8-8. The score was tied again at 10-10 and 12-12. The Bulldogs then went on an 8-2 run to take a 20-14 lead. That run was key to winning the first set 25-18.
Set 2
The Bulldogs rode that momentum into the start of the second set by taking an early 3-0 lead. Even though the Hawks got within a point late, Baltic never trailed. They extended their lead to 9-4, but Colman-Egan cut that lead down to 10-8. The Bulldogs pushed the lead back to six points, 14-8. The Hawks chipped away to make the score 20-18 and then got within a point, 22-21. Baltic finished the set on a 3-1 run for a 25-22 win.
Set 3
After a 2-2 tie in the start of the third set, Baltic took a 6-4 lead and continued to lead by two at 9-7. Colman-Egan tied the score 11-11. The score remained tied at 14-14 and 16-16. The Hawks then went on a 5-0 run to go in front 21-16. They would lead the rest of the set and take a 25-20 win to force a fourth set.
Set 4
Baltic got out in front early in the fourth set, 3-1. They extended the lead to 11-6. Colman-Egan cut that lead down to 15-12, but Baltic would go on a 4-0 run for a 19-12 score. The Hawks would not go away quietly. They went on a 9-3 run to get within a point, 22-21. Baltic continued to keep a one point lead at 23-22 and 24-23 before scoring the final point to win the match.
The Bulldogs will host Beresford on Tuesday, September 2nd for their first home match of the season.
