The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team evened their record to 7-7 with a home win over the Flandreau Fliers on Thursday, September 17th. The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-22, 25-27, 25-22, and 25-23.
The Fliers took an early 3-1 lead in the opening set and slowly built a 10-point advantage at 18-8. The Bulldogs then went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead down to three points, 18-15. They got within a point at 19-18 and then went on another 4-0 run to take a 22-19 lead. Each team scored three points each, and Baltic came from behind to win the opening set 25-22.
The Fliers started quickly in the second set and grabbed an early 7-2 lead. The Bulldogs again rallied to come back and tied the score 12-12. Flandreau regained the lead at 16-14 before pushing their lead to five points, 22-17. Baltic went on a 7-2 run to even the score at 24-24, but the Fliers scored the final two points after a 25-25 tie to win 27-25.
Baltic took an early 5-3 lead to start the third set. Flandreau tied the score 7-7 and then went ahead 11-10. The score was tied again at 14-14. The Fliers went on a 5-2 run to go back in front 19-16. They were still leading 21-20, but the Bulldogs went on a 4-0 run to take the lead late, 24-21. Baltic was able to win the third set 25-22.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the fourth set. They kept their five-point lead at 7-2, but the Fliers chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the score 15-15. The score was tied again at 19-19, 21-21, and 23-23. The Bulldogs were able to get the final two points of the set to 25-23 and win the match.
