Baltic Girls Rally for Win over Elks

The Baltic Bulldog girls rallied in the second half and held off the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks 40-35 at home on Tuesday, February 11th.

The Elks took an 8-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game.  Elkton-Lake Benton kept that six-point by the end of the first quarter, 14-8.  The Elks increased their lead to eight points, 16-8, after making the first basket of the second quarter.  The Bulldogs held the Elks scoreless the rest of the quarter and cut the deficit to 16-14 by halftime.

Baltic continued to rally in the third quarter.  They went on a 10-6 run for a 24-22 lead with 4:00 to go in the quarter.  The rest of the quarter was a defensive battle, and Baltic led 28-24 going into the final quarter.  The Elks pulled within a point, 34-33, with 3:00 to go in the game.  The Bulldogs finished the game with a 6-2 run to hold for the win.

Meredith Larson finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.  Caitlyn Pickett also had 14 point and seven rebounds.  Harper Kortemeyer added six points and three steals.  Kate Bouman ended with five points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
