Winning Streak Continues for Baltic Volleyball

The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team extended their winning streak to nine after a road win against the Sioux Valley Cossacks on Thursday, October 18th.  The Bulldogs won by set scores of 25-17, 26-28, 25-19, and 25-21.

Sioux Valley started the first set with a 5-3 lead.  Baltic went on a 4-1 run and took a 7-6 lead.  They extended the lead to 13-10 and continued to lead by three at 17-14.  The Bulldogs pushed the lead to 22-17 and then scored the final three points for a 25-17 win.  The Cossacks got off to a fast 9-1 start in the second set.  Sioux Valley stayed in the lead at 13-7, but Baltic then made a run.  The Bulldogs cut the lead to 17-13 and then tied the score 17-17.  After Sioux Valley went back in front 21-20, Baltic pulled in front 24-22.  The Cossacks rallied to tie the set 24-24.  The two teams went back and forth to ties of 25-25 and 26-26.  Sioux Valley scored the final two points to take the extra time win, 28-26.

Baltic took a 4-3 lead to start the third set.  They extended the lead to 8-4 and then went on a 7-1 run for a 15-5 lead.  The Bulldogs continued to lead 19-9.  Sioux Valley rallied to cut the lead in half, 23-18, but Baltic finished the third set with a 25-19 win.  The Bulldogs took a 4-2 lead to open the fourth set.  The set was close throughout its entirety.  Baltic held leads of 9-5 and 13-10.  Sioux Valley pulled within a point at 15-14 and stayed within a point at 17-16.  The Bulldogs extended their lead to 21-17 and held for a 25-21 win.

Daynica Witzel finished with 15 kills and 18 digs.  Tenley Witzel added eight kills and 16 digs.  Maiya Fredrickson had 10 kills and seven digs.  Meredith Larson and Caitlin Pickett both had six kills each.  Sophie Even had 41 set assists, and Ava Tiahrt ended with 20 digs.
