Baltic Takes Tough Home Match Win over Elks

The Baltic Bulldog volleyball team hosted the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks on Tuesday, September 24th.  Despite winning in straight sets, the match was a tough, hard-fought battle.  The Bulldogs won by scores of 25-23, 25-18, and 25-9.

After a 2-2 tie to start the first set, the Elks when on a 4-0 run for a 6-2 lead.  They continued to hold the lead until Baltic tied the score 12-12.  The Bulldogs then went on a 4-1 run for a 16-13 advantage.  Elkton-Lake Benton tied the score 17-17 and then regained the lead 20-18.  The Bulldogs tied the set 20-20, and the score remained tied 23-23.  Baltic was able to score the final two points for the 25-23 win.

The Elks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead to start the second set.  Baltic regrouped and tied the score 5-5 and then took the lead, 8-7.  Elkton-Lake Benton jumped ahead 11-9, but only for a short time.  The Bulldogs went on a 7-3 run for a 16-14 lead.  They followed that with a 7-0 run to extend the lead to 23-16.  Baltic finished the set with a 25-18 win.  That momentum carried into the third set for Baltic.  They started on an 8-2 run and cruised from there.  The lead kept growing all set long to the 25-9 win.
