Sioux Valley Uses Big First Half in Win over Baltic

The Baltic Bulldog football team traveled to Volga to play the Sioux Valley Cossacks on Friday, September 6th.  Sioux Valley used a big first half on their way to a 44-13 win.

The Cossacks scored the first 36 points of the game.  They had three touchdowns in the first quarter.  All three touchdowns were rushing touchdowns of 50 yards, eight yards, and 10 yards to build a 21-0 lead.  Sioux Valley added a 15-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion to start the second quarter for a 29-0 lead.  A 17-yard touchdown run made the score 36-0 with 5:59 to pay in the half.

Gavin Skotvold had a five-yard touchdown pass to Ben Erickson with 3:06 to go in the first half.  Braxten Allen made an extra point to make the score 36-7.  Sioux Valley scored one more time with 1:27 left in the half to make the score 44-7 going into halftime.  The Bulldogs got a score with 5:42 to go in the game on an 11-yard touchdown run by Aaron Nordbye.

The Bulldogs finished with 155 yards of total offense, 74 rushing yards and 81 passing yards.  Sioux Valley had a total of 342 yards of offense, 309 rushing yards and 33 passing yards.  Jackson Goehring had eight carries for 37 yards.  Braxton Allen had three carries for 16 yards.  Nordbye had six attempts for 12 yards and a touchdown.  Skotvold finished 10-15 passing for 81 yards.  Allen had three catches for 40 yards, and Erickson finished with two catches for 28 yards and a touchdown.  Riiker Rogers, Goehring, and Allen all had eight tackles each on defense.
