Bulldog Football Welcomes New Head Coach

The Baltic Bulldogs football team will be under new leadership for the 2024 season.  Houston Wentzel takes over as head coach and brings a new staff with him that includes Tyler Masat, Nicholas McBeain, Kyle Wentzel, and Mitch Klein.  The Bulldogs will be looking to improve on their 0-8 season from a year ago that did see close games against Sisseton and Scotland-Menno.

Key returning players for this year include seniors Ryder Siemonsma and Braxten Allen, juniors Jackson Goehring and Trevor Cuperus, and sophomores Tyler Kennedy, Aiden Peters, and Aaron Nordbye.  The Bulldogs will also expect juniors Ben Erickson, Dylan Runestad, and Jon Webb along with sophomore Henry Anderson to see significant action.

“Our strengths will be that we are young and lead by a group of eight seniors. Our team received a lot of playing time last season, so they are ready to take on the challenges of now becoming starters. We will establish the running game with our four running backs – Jackson Goehring, Braxten Allen, Aaron Nordbye, and Riiker Rogers. We return four of our five lineman, which will be senior led. With a new coaching staff, the kids have put in a lot of work this summer, and are starting to believe in themselves. Our focus will be to play physical and work together. Football is a simple game – block and tackle. This is our focus. Simplifying our game plan weekly and attacking teams weaknesses is our goal. We are a excited group looking to change the motto of past Baltic Bulldog football,” said Wentzel.

The Bulldogs start the season at home against Beresford on Friday, August 23rd.
