Big First Quarter Lifts Sioux Valley over Baltic

The Sioux Valley Cossacks scored 42 points in the first quarter on their way to a 62-8 win over the Baltic Bulldogs on Friday, September 29th.

Sioux Valley scored three touchdowns in the first five minutes of the game for a 21-0 lead.  Baltic got on the board with 4:45 to play in the first quarter.  Kellen Artz threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Braxton Allen.  Artz then connected with Ben Erickson for the two-point conversion to make the score 21-8.  The Cossacks, however, would score three more touchdowns before the end of the quarter for a 42-8 lead.

Sioux Valley would added two more scores in the second quarter.  They led 56-8 at halftime.  The final score of the game came in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs were held to 145 yards of total offense, 169 passing yards and -24 rushing yards.  Sioux Valley had 492 yards of offense, 387 rushing yards and 95 passing yards.  Sioux Valley finished with 18 first downs compared to 10 first downs for Baltic.

Aaron Nordbye finished with four carries for 21 yards.  Henry Anderson had two carries for 18 yards.  Artz was 12-28 passing for 169 yards and a touchdown.  Payton Anderson had four catches for 109 yards, and Allen had three catches for 39 yards and a touchdown.  Landon Peterson finished with five tackles and an interception.  Nordbye also had five takcles, and H. Anderson had four tackles.
