River Dawgs Can’t Hold Early Lead

The Baltic River Dawgs had an early lead against the Sioux Falls Squirrels at home on Sunday, July 14th.  The Squirrels, however, rallied for a 10-6 victory.

The River Dawgs scored four times in the bottom of the first for a 4-0 lead. Sioux Falls cut the lead to one, 4-3, with three runs in top of the fourth.  Baltic added two more runs in the bottom of the inning for a 6-3 advantage.  The Squirrels then scored three in the top of the fifth, two in the sixth, and two more in the seventh for the 10-6 lead.

Myles Rees had two hits.  Jon Wilhelmsen had a hit and two RBIs.  Beau Keith and Noah Swartwout both had a single and an RBI.  Ty Schafer added a double.  Riley Schultz also had a single.  Wilhelmsen pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, all unearned, on three hits and five walks with five strikeouts.  Elliot Haux pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits and three walks with a strikeout.
