The Baltic 16U baseball team played a high-scoring game against Dell Rapids on Wednesday, June 19th. Dell Rapids took the offensive battle by a score of 18-13.
Dell Rapids put two runs on the board for an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Baltic responded with three in the bottom of the first for a 3-2 lead. Dell Rapids got the lead back with three runs in the second. They extended the lead to 8-3 with a three-run third inning. Baltic, however, regained the lead 10-8 after scoring seven times in the bottom of the third.
Each team scored a run in the fourth, and after four innings of play, Baltic led 11-9. Dell Rapids tied the game 11-11 with two runs in the top of the fifth. Baltic went back in front with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, 13-11. Dell Rapids delivered the big blow with a seven-run top of the seventh to get the victory.
Joey Grunewaldt had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Cale Roach had two singles and two RBIs. AJ Grunewaldt added two singles and an RBI. Gavin Skotvold finished with a hit and two RBIs. Dylan Runestad had a hit and an RBI. Jackson Goehring and Isaac Oakley both had one hit each.
Goehring pitched three innings and allowed eight runs, four earned, on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Skotvold threw 1 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on one hit and two walks. Kellen Artz pitched an inning and allowed three earned runs on a hit and six walks with one strikeout. Ben Berg tossed one inning and allowed one hit and one walk. J. Grunewaldt pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed three unearned runs on a hit and two walks.
