Third Quarter Key to Cougar Win over Baltic Girls

The third quarter proved to be the difference for the Viborg-Hurley Cougars win over the Baltic Bulldogs on Monday, February 12th.  The Cougars got a 66-55 win.

Baltic started the game strong offensively.  They had a lead of seven points at 10-3 and 17-10.  The Bulldogs ended the first quarter with a 17-13 lead.  Baltic kept the lead for the second quarter until the end.  Trailing 26-20 the Cougars made back-to-back three-point shots to tie the game 26-26 by halftime.

The big difference in the game was the third quarter when the Cougars scored 24 points in the quarter.  Baltic was held to 12 points, and Viborg-Hurley took a 50-38 lead into the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs cut the lead down to six points, 59-53, with 1:45 to play in the game, but the Cougars finished the game on a 7-2 run.

Four players finished in double figures for Baltic.  Baylee Breece had 17 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Laci Hillman had 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Caitlyn Pickett added 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Harper Kortemeyer also had 10 points along with five rebounds.
