The Baltic Bulldog girls played the opening round of their Big East Conference Tournament on Thursday, January 25th at Sioux Valley High School. The Bulldogs lost to the Beresford Watchdogs 49-31.
The Bulldogs trailed by just three points, 10-7, at the end of the first quarter. The second and third quarters are where the Watchdogs built a big lead. Beresford outscored Baltic 18-8 in the second quarter for a 28-15 lead. The lead grew to 44-17 going into the final quarter.
Baltic shot 26% (13-51) overall in the game, 20% (2-10) on three-point shots, and 50% (3-6) from the free-throw line. Beresford finished the game shooting 38% (17-45) overall, 43% (6-14) from three-point area, and 60% (9-15) from the free-throw line.
Harper Kortemeyer finished with 11 points and two rebounds. Meredith Larson had eight points and seven rebounds. Baylee Breece added six points and three rebounds.
