Baltic Boys Fall to Cougars in Final Moments

The Viborg-Hurley Cougars scored the game winning basket with just :20 to go for a 56-55 win over the Baltic Bulldogs on Monday, January 22nd.

The Bulldogs held the lead 13-10 at the end of the first quarter.  Both offenses played well in the second quarter, and Viborg-Hurley had a 35-31 lead at halftime.  The Cougars extended their lead to 49-38 with 2:40 to go in the third quarter, but the Bulldogs closed the gap to 49-45 with a 7-0 run by the end of the quarter.  Baltic was able to regain the lead again, 55-54, with 1:45 to play in the game.  The Bulldogs had a couple of chances to extend their lead, but the shots didn’t quite fall.  Viborg-Hurley got the go-ahead basket with :20 to play.  A final buzzer-beater shot from the baseline for Baltic didn’t fall through the hoop.

Jack Erickson had 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Ben Erickson had nine points.  Kellen Artz finished with eight points and seven rebounds.  Mark Ditter also had eight points, three rebounds, and two steals.
