Bulldogs Fall in Girls Basketball Season Opener

The Baltic Bulldog girls basketball 2023-2024 season got started on Friday, December 1st.  The Bulldogs traveled to Garretson.  Strong defensive pressure all game long by the Blue Dragons helped them to a 56-41 win over Balitc.

Garretson forced 28 turnovers in the game, 22 of those on steals.  They applied strong pressure from the start which helped them build an 18-4 lead after the first quarter.  Baltic went on an 8-3 run early in the second quarter to cut the lead to 21-12, but that was as close as they would get.  Garretson finished the first half with a 38-19 lead.  The Blue Dragons scored the first 10 points of the third quarter for a 48-19 lead.  The Bulldogs held Garretson to just three more points the rest of the quarter, but still trailed 52-30 going into the fourth.  Baltic outscored Garretson 11-4 in the final quarter.

The Bulldogs shot 53% (17-32) overall from the field, 33% (3-9) from three-point area, and 40% (4-10) from the free-throw line.  Garretson finished 36% (23-64) shooting overall, 14% (3-21) on three-point attempts, and 78% (7-9) from the free-throw line.

Baylee Breece finished with 19 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Harper Kortemeyer had 10 points, four rebounds, and two assists.  Meredith Larson added five points and six rebounds, while Holland Kortemeyer had four points and four rebounds.

The Bulldogs host West Central on Tuesday, December 5th.
